Who is Mary?
Mary Fixsen is animal obsessed and PET TECH® CPR & First Aid Trained! She has cared for cats, dogs, turtles, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, bearded dragons, frogs, and rabbits in her pet care history. Raised in Darnestown and a graduate of The University of Maryland College Park, she has worked exclusively in the Professional Pet Care Industry since 2012. Before that, she was an awarded professional in the customer service field and has been working since the age of ten (thanks for the first job, Dad!). With a mission to provide every client with top notch customer care, reliability and professionalism, she is ecstatic to realize her dream of operating her pet care company! She currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with husband, Ben, son, Luke, daughter, Audrey, and cats George Bailey & Harry Bailey.

Dog Walking: Our Most Popular Service! All dogs need an exercise break during the work day! We will personalize the walk to your dog's individual needs. No matter whether that means a brisk walk through your neighborhood, a slower pace for those pups who prefer to stop and smell the daisies, or a potty break in your back yard- we will happily take care of your pet so that you don't have to worry!

Additional pets $6 each
Dog Boarding: Does your dog want to come by for a sleepover?! With this service, your pet will have all of the amenities of home life while you're away, no kennels involved and totally stress-free. Please note that boarding is offered on a limited basis due to the quantity of spots available, we only board 1 or 2 dogs at a time (from the same household). All dogs must be spayed or neutered, house trained, up to date on vaccinations and (most importantly) be very friendly toward children and cats. Reach out to us on our contact form to discuss your dog joining our pack. We are not currently able to board puppies younger than 1 year.

Drop-In Pet Sitting: Planning to travel and need to make sure your dogs, cat, guinea pig, bird, reptile, rabbit (or other small critter) are properly loved in your absence? We would love to help! Each 30-minute visit can include a feeding, walk, playtime, litter/cage cleanup, medication/vitamin administration, indoor plant care and mail pickup.

House Sitting (No Pets): Do you need a home security check while you are on vacation? We will pick up mail and packages, rotate lights and check the locks and perimeter of your home to make sure everything is secure so you can get the most relaxation out of your trip.

Garden Care: If you’re going on vacation, your plants are going to need TLC, too! Our garden care service includes up to 30-minutes of plant watering for both indoor and outdoor plants. Have a more expansive landscape? No problem, we can extend our visits to make sure all of your “green babies” are watered well. We will ask for a detailed rundown on all of your flowers and plants.

Holidays: Any services scheduled on MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will incur a holiday fee paid directly to your sitter.

Initial Consultations: To secure your first reservation with us, we will book you a 30-minute consultation to meet with your sitter. These meetings give us the opportunity to become familiar with you and your pet, to discuss your needs, and to exchange your house keys (if you do not have a lockbox or keypad).

Mary's Pet Squad is expanding and looking for new Dog Walkers to join our squad!
We are looking to fill the following role:
- Dog Walker, Monday through Friday, 9am t0 4pm
You need to be able to work at least 15 to 20 hours per week.
You will perform between 3 to 9 dog walks each weekday.
If you have pet sitting experience and are looking for a part-time position with room to grow into the company, we would love to meet you!
The mission of Mary's Pet Squad is to provide every client with a high level of customer service, reliability, professionalism, positivity, and tailored pet and home care. This job comes with great responsibility, and you will be expected to problem solve quickly while on the job and make professional decisions.
We serve the heart of Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and select upper NW D.C. neighborhoods.
Typical duties include walking dogs through neighborhoods and parks (in sunshine, rain or snow), letting dogs out in fenced backyards, picking up after pets, feeding pets, offering cuddles and playtime to furry friends, administering medications, bringing in mail/newspaper/packages, plant watering, cleaning pet bowls, taking out trash, securing a client's home, and updating clients after every visit with our mobile app.
This job is perfect for those who need flexible working daytime hours. Our clients have mid-morning dog walks between 9-11am as well as mid-afternoon walks between 12-4pm.
Dog Walkers:
- MUST love and cherish animals and treat them as well as their own pets. Do not apply if this is not you.
- Have pet sitting experience (taking care of pets that do not belong to you).
- Can perform dog walks in any type of weather.
- Will drive between client visits with a reliable, personally insured vehicle.
- Will be trained in pet care and pet CPR/First Aid
- Will use our mobile app on their cell phone to track their schedule, time, and mileage, and communicate with clients as services are completed.
- Are eligible to work in the US and must pass a federal background check.
- Live within our service area and will travel to all our clients in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, NW D.C. and sometimes Silver Spring or Kensington.
- Will commit to the position for 1 year or longer.
We are looking for immediate hire. This is an employee position which offers workman's compensation, mileage reimbursement, bonuses for working federal holidays, 100% of client tips, sick leave, and time off. Dog Walkers will make between $600-$1200 per paycheck depending on your availability.

Booboo
My family and I were so lucky to meet Mary. We were going out of the country and were so worried about our indoor cat while we were away. Our cat, Booboo is not very social but when he met Mary he went right to her and started purring! That was awesome! While we were away Mary gave us daily reports and often pictures of Booboo.
